The historic centre of the city of Alicante, the picturesque <a href=\"https:\/\/www.traveler.es\/articulos\/barrio-de-santa-cruz-alicante-que-ver-que-hacer\">Barrio de Santa Cruz<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comunitatvalenciana.com\/en\/alacant-alicante\/alacant-alicante\/beaches\/postiguet-beach\">Postiguet Beach<\/a> are just 800 metres away. From there you have access to climb up to the <a href=\"https:\/\/castillodesantabarbara.com\/en\/\">Castle of Santa Barbara<\/a>, a fortress of Muslim origin which, with its 167 metres in height, presides over the city from Mount Benacantil.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/ciceli.es\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Alacant.jpg&#8221; title_text=&#8221;Alacant&#8221; align=&#8221;center&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; transform_scale=&#8221;72%|72%&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;||||false|false&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.4&#8243; text_font=&#8221;Montserrat||||||||&#8221; text_font_size=&#8221;16px&#8221; text_line_height=&#8221;1.8em&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;justified&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>With its exceptional beaches close to the city and its Mediterranean climate, Alicante is a first-class tourist location, with a wide range of hotels and restaurants, and a bustling nightlife, but it is also a cultural city, where it is possible to enjoy various museums, such as the MACA (Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante), the MUBAG (Museum of Fine Arts Gravina) and especially the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marqalicante.com\/index.php?lng=eng\">MARQ<\/a> (Provincial Archaeological Museum of Alicante),\u00a0 which, conceived to be the first archaeological museum of the 21st century and to offer a didactic, modern and interactive vision of archaeology, contains outstanding examples of the cultural richness of the Costa Blanca. A few kilometres from the city of Alicante there are some spectacular Mediterranean beaches, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alicanteturismo.com\/en\/san-juan-beach\/\">San Juan-Muchavista beach<\/a>, which is more than 6 km long, and also some towns of great cultural wealth, such as Elche, with its famous &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/whc.unesco.org\/en\/list\/930\/\">Palmeral<\/a>&#8221; of more than 200,000 palm tres -UNESCO World Heritage Site- and the Iberian site of La Alcudia, where the famous female bust &#8220;La Dama de Elche&#8221; was found, or Orihuela, cultural and heritage capital of the province of Alicante and birthplace of Miguel Hernandez, where, in addition to numerous monuments (Cathedral of El Salvador and Santa Maria, Palace of the Marquises of Rubalcava, Episcopal Palace, Convent of Santo Domingo, etc.), we find the <a href=\"https:\/\/culturaorihuela.com\/casa-museo-miguel-hernandez\/\">house-museum<\/a> of the poet from Alicante.<\/p>\n<p>Near Alicante, to the north, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comunitatvalenciana.com\/en\/alacant-alicante\/altea\">Altea<\/a>, called &#8220;the dome of the Mediterranean&#8221;, which boasts one of the most beautiful white villages in Spain, and 11 nautical miles away we find the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.comunitatvalenciana.com\/en\/alacant-alicante\/isla-tabarca\"> island of Tabarca<\/a>, the only inhabited island in the Valencian Community, full of coves and beaches with transparent waters and a picturesque fishing port where you can taste some of the typical specialities, such as the traditional \u201ccaldero\u201d (fish stew).<\/p>\n<p>Alicante has an international airport very close by, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez Airport, well connected to the city by bus service, and a train station with constant high-speed trains from Madrid (a two and a half hour journey).<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Conference venue\u200bSede Universitaria Ciudad de AlicanteAv.
