Emmanuel Le Vagueresse (Bordeaux, France, 1969) is a Full Professor of Literature and Contemporary Spanish Film at the Département de Langues Romanes /UFR Lettres & Sciences Humaines University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, France. He is also a Professor at the Euromerican Campus of the Institut d’Études Politiques of Paris (Sciences Po) in Reims and co-director of the Research Seminar «Images et représentations de la société», as well as a member of the Research Lab CIRLEP (Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche sur les Langues et la Pensée EA-4299) of Reims, the Société des Langues Néo-Latines, the SHF (Société des Hispanistes Français) and the aiR (Asociación Internacional Ramón Gómez de la Serna).

His academic background is mainly French: École Normale Supérieure of Fontenay-Saint-Cloud, 1989, «Agrégation Externe» (Spanish), 1993, PhD at the University of Paris-III Sorbonne-Nouvelle focused on Juan Goytisolo, 1999, «Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches» at the University of Paris-III Sorbonne-Nouvelle focused on José Hierro, 2005, having spent a year in Sevilla (1990-1991), having completed various short-term stays at foreign universities and having been a guest faculty at numerous universities (Hassiba Benbouali in Chlef, Abdelhamid Ibn Badis in Mostaganem and Benyoucef Benkhedda in Argel, 2014, University of Østfold in Halden, Norway, 2016, Stony Brook University in New York, USA, 2019 and as an Erasmus Professor at University of Aldo Moro in Bari, Italy, 2010, University of Zaragoza, 2011, University of San Clemente of Ohrid in Sofía, Bulgaria, 2012, 2015, 2018, University of Alejandro Juan Cuza of Iaşi in Romania, 2017). He has coordinated the Erasmus of the University of Malaga between 2003 and 2012, with numerous stays at the university during this period.

His research topics include the literature and culture of modern and contemporary Spain (20th and 21st centuries), written work and images:  Ramón Gómez de la Serna and the avant-garde movements, Juan Goytisolo, Javier Marías, Juan Gil-Albert, José Hierro, Juan Antonio González Iglesias, and the novel, poetry or film (Jesús Franco, Eloy de la Iglesia, Adolfo Arrieta) under the Franco regime and censorship, French-writing Spanish writers, popular productions, kitsch, reception issues, Eros and politics, literary translation.

He has authored over one-hundred articles and elven books, as the main author, as a co-editor (congress minutes), or as a translator. He has also co-edited a bilingual collection of the poets of the generation of 27, which will soon be published through Épure de Reims, and is currently working on an anthology of the cult poet from Canarias Félix Francisco Casanova (1956-1976). He co-organizes a biannual congress on TV series, with published minutes, and an annual Latin American film festival («¡Parada Cine!»), both of which take place Reims.
